Comments

Recorded from Lake Gariep, upper Orange River (Ref. 88006, 94818) and the Great Fish river (Ref. 94788). Has been implicated in the introduction of many fish parasites in South Africa (Refs. 6465, 88006). Populations collected from Lake Gariep had shorter maturation and generation times as well as had faster growth performance compared to other populations in Europe. This emphasizes the potential of the species to rapidly colonize and dominate new freshwater systems (Ref. 88006).
